Watch The First Trailer For ‘American Assassin’ Starring Michael Keaton And Dylan O’Brien

We got a new trailer fresh out the oven for you today. American Assassin stars Michael Keaton and Dylan O’Brien, and is currently scheduled for a September 15, 2017, release date.

In the film, O’Brien plays Mitch Rapp, a CIA recruit who is not having the best of luck. His parents died when he was 14, and moments after he proposed to his girlfriend on the beach, terrorists dropped in and killed her.

This leaves Rapp “grief-stricken but motivated to serve in a black ops mission aimed at stopping World War III in the Middle East.”

Michael Cuesta directed the movie. He has primarily worked in TV in the past. He’s been a director on Six Feet UnderTrue Blood, Homeland and Billions. We’re sure he’ll make a smooth transition to the feature world. He’s got years of experience.

In addition to Keaton and O’Brien, Taylor Kitsch and Sanaa Lathan will also co-star. You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below…

“Black ops recruit Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien) is reeling from the death of his fiancée in a terrorist attack when he is assigned to shadowy CIA figure Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton) to receive special training in tracking terrorists. Rapp and Hurley are then dispatched to join a Turkish agent on a mission to stop a mysterious operative from unleashing chaos of international proportions.”

See The First Photo Of Bradley Cooper And Lady Gaga In ‘A Star is Born’ Remake

We told you back in August of 2016 that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper officially signed on to star in the remake of A Star is Born. It was pretty big news at the time because the project had went down such a difficult road. At one point, Leonardo DiCaprio was set to co-star in the film with Beyonce, and Clint Eastwood was in talks to direct.

That obviously didn’t work out, and just when the studio was about to scratch the idea, Bradley Cooper came in to say he would star and direct the movie.

Following his announcement, Lady Gaga joined the cast and now filming has officially started. Warner Bros. released the first photo from set, which shows Cooper playing the guitar next to Gaga.

According to multiple reports, Cooper and Gaga have been at Coachella filming scenes for the movie. It’s going to be interesting to see the finished product. As you may already know, this will be Cooper’s directorial debut.

Most actors who dip their toes in the directing waters start off with indie projects. Cooper is going straight to the top with his debut. Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Elliott are set to co-star in the movie.

We’ll keep you posted as more information is released. It’s set to hit theaters in 2018.

Never Turn Your Back On Family: ‘Fate of the Furious’ Breaks Worldwide Box Office Records

It looks like Vin Diesel knew what he was doing when he decided to continue the Fast & Furious franchise. Even though the films are caricatures of what they once were, fans continue to pack the theaters every time a new installment is released.

The eighth film (Fate of the Furious) in the franchise was released this past weekend and it broke several records at the worldwide box office.

It took home an estimated $532.5 million worldwide to set the record for highest global box office opening ever. One interesting thing about this is that the film actually dropped off in North America.

You’ll remember that Furious 7 took home $147.2 million during its opening weekend in 2015. Fate of the Furious opened to just $100.2 million here in the states. It was the international market that saved the film.

It earned a ridiculous $432.3 million internationally in 63 foreign markets. $190 million of that coming from China, where the franchise is more popular than ever. That’s obviously great news for the franchise, but the studio is probably still a little disappointed by the decline here in the US.

Mainly because Hollywood studios only take 25% of Chinese ticket sales. According to Variety, that’s roughly half of what they earn in most major markets.

But when you’re bringing in a total of $532.5 million in your opening weekend, 25% vs. 50% doesn’t really matter as much.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ Hits The $1 Billion Mark At The Worldwide Box Office

The moment Disney announced it would be making a live-action Beauty and the Beast film, we knew it had the potential to make $1 billion at the box office.

People love to be reminded of their childhood, so films like this are the perfect recipe. Parents bring their kids to introduce them to something new, while they get to relive something old. It doesn’t get any better than that, and Disney knows that.

And that’s why no one should be surprised to hear that Beauty and the Beast just crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. This means it is now the 29th movie to reach the impressive milestone.

It was announced the filmed had grossed $9.7 million on Tuesday to increase its worldwide total to $993.2 million. $435.9 million domestically and $557.3 million internationally. Just two days later, the studio announced it reached the $1 billion mark.

It’s pretty incredible. Disney now has 14 of the 29 movies to earn $1 billion or more. That is what you call domination, and it’s only going to continue since they have several other live-action remakes coming out.

Mulan comes out November 2, 2018, and after that you have Aladdin, The Lion King, Tinkerbell and many more.

Watch Ryan Reynolds Try To Protect Samuel L. Jackson In Red Band Trailer For ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’

Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in a buddy comedy? Sure. Take our money now. Just when the buddy comedy genre was going to take its last breath, Jackson and Reynolds have come to save the day.

Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment has released the red band trailer for The Hitman’s Bodyguard. The film, which is scheduled for an August 18, 2017 release date features a lot of classic Samuel L. Jackson. He’s got one dirty mouth in this film.

Jackson plays the world’s most notorious hitmen in the movie, and Reynolds is the world’s top protection agent. He’s forced to protect Jackson’s character, which is a great struggle because they are enemies.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard also stars Elodie Yung, Joaquim De Almeida and Kirsty Mitchell. It was directed by Patrick Hughes.

You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below…

“The world’s top protection agent (Ryan Reynolds) is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson). The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator (Gary Oldman) who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife.”

The Transformers Franchise Has Officially Gone Crazy, Watch The New Trailer For ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’

We have no idea why the Transformers franchise is still releasing new films. It’s getting a bit ridiculous at this point. I don’t even know what the hell is going on anymore in the series, and admittedly that is mostly my fault because I’m not exactly trying to figure out the mysteries behind the 5th Transformers movie.

It’s not entirely my fault, though. The marketing for this movie has been confusing as hell. You got King Arthur fighting with giant robots, bizarre (perhaps unintentional) comedy from Mark Wahlberg, and a post-apocalyptic world.

That’s too much for one movie, and I don’t think I can handle it. I can’t give this movie anymore attention. I’m sorry. If you want to find out when the release date is, who stars in it, how much the production budget was…google it. I can’t do it.

Oscar Contender? Check Out The First Trailer For Kathryn Bigelow’s Riot Drama ‘Detroit’

Welcome back, Kathryn Bigelow…welcome back. It’s been five years since the Oscar-winning director released a feature-length movie, and that’s five years too long if you ask us.

Thankfully she is making a grand return with Detroit. A movie based on the 1967 Detroit riot, one of the deadliest and most costly examples of civil unrest in American history. The five-day riot killed over 40 people, injured more than 1,000 and featured more than $40 million in property damage.

The writer behind this film is the talented Mark Boal. He previously worked with Bigelow on Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker.

Detroit stars John Krasinski, John Boyega, Jason Mitchell, Anthony Mackie and Will Poulter. It’s scheduled to hit theaters August 4, 2017, and you should probably save that date in your phone now. You will not want to miss this one.

Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’ Is The Most Expensive French Film Ever

Geez. The folks at EuropaCorp are putting everything on the table with Luc Besson’s upcoming sci-fi epic Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.

According to CinEuropa, the film (which is a 100% French production) costs 197 million Euros to make, which equals out to around $210 million. Just so you get the picture, the third film in the Transformers franchise had a budget of just $195 million.

Valerian is officially the most expensive production in French film history, and it’s not even really close. The previous number one spot was held by Asterix at the Olympic Games, which was made for a little under $83 million. By the way, that film did not perform well. It received an award for worst French film made in 2007.

Valerian’s insane budget shouldn’t be too surprising. It’s a sci-fi film for one. That’s always going to increase the budget. In addition to that, it’s also packed with an extremely talented cast: Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan and Rihanna.

It’s difficult to see how the production company is going to get their money back. I don’t see this movie pulling in over $400 million (it’s often said that a film needs to make twice its production budget to break even) at the box office.

We’ll see what happens. There are a lot of people excited about this movie. If it gets off to a great start, with positive reviews from critics, then it’ll be set up for a nice run.

But if not?

The New Trailer For ‘Atomic Blonde’ Kicks Some More Serious Butt, Watch The Action Inside!

We were pretty impressed by the first trailer for Atomic Blonde. As we have mentioned several times before, it’s difficult to make a good trailer, but the folks behind this movie are doing a great job.

David Leitch (co-director of John Wick) directed this movie, and Charlize Theron stars as a deadly MI6 assassin who gets herself into a lot of trouble.

This new trailer is better than the first, and when a movie manages to make a second trailer more intriguing than the first, that’s when we start to pay attention. The film premiered at SXSW, and a few of the reviews were mixed, but most people left the screening with positive things to say.

In addition to Theron, Atomic Blonde stars John Goodman, James McAvoy and Eddie Marsan. It’s scheduled to hit theaters July 28, 2017.

You can check out the official synopsis and the second trailer below…

“Oscar® winner Charlize Theron explodes into summer in Atomic Blonde, a breakneck action-thriller that follows MI6’s most lethal assassin through a ticking time bomb of a city simmering with revolution and double-crossing hives of traitors.

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission.  Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.”

‘Dunkirk’ Director Christopher Nolan Claims Harry Styles Beat Out ‘Thousands’ To Land Role

We are sure there are a lot of people out there who believe Harry Styles landed a role in Christopher Nolan’sDunkirk‘ simply because he is Harry Styles. And that’s not exactly a crazy thing to think. There have been several musicians/athletes who have landed roles in movies because of their fame.

But Nolan insists that was not the case with Styles. As we all know, Nolan takes his work seriously, and he’s not the type to hire some former boy band member just to sell a few extra tickets at the box office.

During an interview with the LA Times, the 46-year-old director revealed Styles beat out thousands to land the role…

“When we put the cast together, we had some established names. But for the guys on the beach, we really wanted young unknowns. He’s not that unknown, but he’d never done anything as an actor before. So he auditioned. I auditioned literally thousands of young men with different combinations of young men. And he had it.”

Now obviously being in One Direction probably helped Styles get in the audition room, but it did NOT help him win the role, which is refreshing to hear.

For those who don’t know, Dunkirk tells the story of  “Operation Dynamo, a daring plan to rescue 300,000 Allied troops who were surrounded by Nazis soldiers in Dunkirk during World War II.”

It’s scheduled to be released July 22, 2017. You can watch the trailer below…
