Leonardo DiCaprio really wants that first Oscar, but he doesn’t want it THAT bad. You may have heard this strange report swirling around your social media pages. It was a ridiculous post on The Drudge Report that started it all, claiming poor Leo gets raped twice by a bear in The Revenant.
“The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling. He is raped — twice!”
Sounds brutal, right? I mean, we knew the film had some gruesome scenes, but we didn’t know things were this extreme. After reading the description from that report, it sounds like we should all avoid those Build-A-Bear Workshops at the mall.
But don’t throw away Paddington just yet. 20th Century Fox was quick to smash these false reports. A spokesperson with the studio was forced to send out a release they probably never thought they would need to send…
“As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs. There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.”
There you have it, folks. Don’t believe those silly rape reports. That being said, the film will still be hard to watch. Leo has already admitted it was his most difficult film ever.
“[I was] enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly. I certainly don’t eat raw bison liver on a regular basis. When you see the movie, you’ll see my reaction to it, because Alejandro kept it in. It says it all. It was an instinctive reaction.”
The Revenant hits theaters this Christmas. Bring the whole family!
