The boys in the Broken Lizard comedy troupe have been celebrating for a few months now following the success of Super Troopers 2. After trying to convince a major studio to fund the sequel, they decided to go straight to their fans. They raised close to $5 million on Indiegogo for the sequel. It was a huge F U to Hollywood.
A year later, they made the film and it was released back in April of 2018. It made a little over $30 million at the box office, which means it was a huge success. Hell, they probably would have been happy with $20 million.
The team was at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, and while talking to a room full of supporters, Jay Chandrasekhar confirmed they were writing a third Super Troopers film.
And the title? ‘Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers,’ which is an absolutely hilarious title. It’s so hilarious that people didn’t actually believe him. An audience member asked if he was being serious and he replied with a simple “Yeah,” which still doesn’t convince us he was being serious.
But let’s hope to the lord above that he was. By the way, Chandrasekhar also announced they will not be using Indiegogo to fund this next installment. Once was enough.
“I don’t think we will crowd fund the next one. We needed a favor from our fans on the last one. They delivered. I don’t know that we need to make them pay for the next one.”[mashshare]
