Screenwriters try their best to make sure the dialogue in their script sounds original, but sometimes you just have to use one of those tired lines. We are talking about lines like, “Is that all you’ve got?” and “Don’t die on me!” — You will find those exact lines in several movies.
But what about, “I should have killed you when I had the chance.”? It certainly sounds familiar, but can it really compete with the two lines above? The answer is yes.
Thanks to YouTube user Jukka-Pekka Bohm, we now have over four minutes of movie characters saying I should have killed you when I had the chance. It’s a little surprising to see just how much the line has been used. I think the most important thing we can learn from this is that you need to act almost instantly on those feelings of murder.
Don’t give the person time to get away. Kill them now, so you won’t be the fool saying, “I should have killed you when I had the chance!!!” KILL THEM NOW! DON’T WAIT! There will never be a perfect time to kill someone, you just have to put on your big boy pants and do it.
But seriously, don’t kill anyone. Let the violence stay on screen.
