Those who were excited to see Blake Lively star in an action flick will have to wait until Thanksgiving now. ‘Rhythm Section‘ was set to be released on February 22, 2019, but now it’s being pushed back until Thanksgiving.
According to Paramount Pictures, the change is a “strategic decision.” Not only are they counting on the holiday box office boost, they also believe the “gritty spy tale” will be the ideal counter-programming to Frozen 2. Personally, I think the ideal counter-programming to Frozen 2 is nothing, ’cause it’s f**king Frozen 2 and it’s going to smash everything.
But hey, the studio knows more than I do. Typically, I’d say a film having its release date pushed back is not a good sign, but in this case, it actually is. The studio obviously has faith in this movie if they’re releasing it on Thanksgiving.
For those who don’t know, Rhythm Section will feature Lively as a heroine “who adopts the identity of an assassin to get to the bottom of her family’s death in a plane crash. She discovers it may not have been an accident at all.”
Jude Law, Raza Jaffrey and Daniel Mays also star in the film.
