Blade Might Be Returning To Movie Theaters With One Major Change

In 2013, Marvel celebrated after getting the rights to Blade back. Fans of the franchise were also excited because they figured this would mean a new Blade movie would be coming soon. So far, nothing has happened. There have been some rumors floating around. Wesley Snipes even admitted he was talking with Marvel recently, which got a lot of people excited.

However, now we are hearing the next Blade film won’t focus on Snipes’ character. Instead, it will focus on the original character’s daughter, Fallon Grey, which makes sense because Marvel Comics announced plans in July to launch a new comic book series about Grey.

Sources say “higher-ups” at Marvel are being extremely careful with this character. Grey is important to the studio, and they don’t want to mess this opportunity up. Blade comic writer Tim Seeley described the 16-year-old Fallon as follows…

“She’s a sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker.’ She’s popular, she’s well-liked and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.”

What does this mean for Snipes? We don’t know, but it’s possible he would come back in a supporting role…maybe to train his daughter? It’ll be interesting to see where Marvel takes this. It certainly sounds like an entertaining and fresh idea.

We’ll keep you posted.
