After being in supporting roles for True Detective and Baywatch, Alexandra Daddario is finally going to get her chance to shine on her own. The actress/model is set to star in the dramatic thriller, I Am Not A Bird.
Swedish filmmaker William Olsson is set to direct the movie, which is based on Catherine Hanrahan’s novel, Lost Girls and Love Hotels.
Deadline explains what the story is about…
“The story centers on Margaret, a young Western woman in the midst of losing herself in the bacchanal of nighttime Tokyo. Haunted by memories of her twin brother’s descent into madness, Margaret courts danger with her fellow ex-pat misfits in dive bars and love hotels. When she falls for Kazu, a handsome Japanese gangster, she has a chance at redemption. But with the threat of a killer in the city, Margaret is in a race to find herself before she’s lost completely.”
Sounds like a lot will be going on in this movie. We’ll see if they can find a way to tell the story in a way that makes sense with the limited amount of time they have in a feature film.
Daddario is currently a busy woman in Hollywood. In addition to this film, you’ll be able to find her in at least 4 other upcoming films, including When We First Met, which was co-written by Adam DeVine. It’ll be released on Netflix in February 2018.
