‘Avengers: Endgame’ Has Just Enough To Beat ‘Detective Pikachu’ At The Box Office

As we predicted, ‘Detective Pikachu‘ didn’t have enough in the tank to take down ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ at the box office, which means Endgame had its third straight weekend at the top.

The marvel/disney flick made $63.1 million this past weekend, bringing its domestic total up to a ridiculous $723.5 million. It has now topped Infinity War and Black Panther. It added another $100 million internationally, which brings its global total up to $2.5 billion. It’s getting so very close to Avatar’s $2.8 billion total.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds’ Detective Pikachu opened this past weekend and made a respectable $58 million. Experts were predicting between $50 and $60 million, so it was a decent performance. I don’t think anyone is mad about being just $5 million behind the biggest movie ever.

Internationally, Pikachu did beat Endgame. It took home $103 million, just $3 million more than Endgame.

The only downside for Endgame is that domestic sales fell by 57 percent. That’s a little higher of a drop than the 46 percent drop Infinity War experienced during its third week. But I mean, who really cares at this point?

John Wick: Chapter 3 hits theaters next weekend. It should (SHOULD) beat Endgame.
