Slowly (very slowly) the world is starting to reopen. The virus is still around, but it is starting to fade in some countries.
New Zealand handled the virus extremely well. It was almost a non-issue there, thanks to the government’s initial response, and now the country is basically reopened again. Even schools are open.
And next week, film and television production will be allowed to resume in the country. This is great news for Avatar 2, which was forced to suspend production a little over two months ago.
Oscar-winning producer John Landau went on his Instagram account to announce the exciting news…
Our Avatar sets are ready — and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week. Check out the Matador, a high-speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top) — can’t wait to share more.
Avatar 2 will be the first major studio movie to resume filming, and it’s likely more productions move overseas, so they can start filming again.
It could be another two months before Hollywood reopens. Two months is a long time in the movie making world. Studios will have a difficult decision to make.
