Amy Adams Set To Star In Truly Bizarre Sounding Movie Titled ‘Nightbitch’

Are you ready for some weirdness? Searchlight Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to Annapurna’s ‘Nightbitch’ film, which is set to star Amy Adams.

And the premise sounds pretty bizarre. Basically, Adams’ character believes she’s turning into a dog.

Adams stars as a woman thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.

It’s described as a “darkly comic neo-horror,” film. Marielle Heller wrote and will direct this movie. She previously directed A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, Can You Ever Forgive Me, and The Diary of a Teenage Girl.

Production on ‘Nightbitch’ is set to begin in Los Angeles this September, which means it’ll likely be released in the fall of 2023.

It’s set to stream as a Hulu original. We’re not sure if it’ll also be released in theaters as well, or if it’ll strictly be on Hulu, similar to their other horror hit, Fresh.

The film is based on Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed novel. Heller had high praise for it, by the way.

Rachel Yoder‘s book took my breath away. I haven’t felt this way about a book since I read ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’ many years ago. Rachel’s darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen. And adapting it with Amy Adams in mind has been the thing that has kept me going through the pandemic.

Pete Davidson Set To Star Alongside Naomi Scott In Upcoming A24 Film ‘Wizards!’

Pete Davidson continues to be a hot choice in Hollywod, thanks in large part to the press he’s receiving for his very public relationship with Kim Kardashian.

He’s already filmed a couple movies this past year, and now he’s set to start work on another one. It was announced this week that Davidson will star alongside Naomi Scott, Franz Rogowski and Sean Harris in the upcoming film ‘Wizards!’ from Australian filmmaker, David Michod.

The film follows two hapless pothead beach-bar operators (Davidson and Rogowski) who run into trouble when they stumble across stolen loot that they really should have just left alone.

Michod wrote the script based on a story by Joel Edgerton. A24 and Plan B Entertainment are working together to finance the project.

It’s the fourth collab between the two production companies. They previously worked together on Moonlight, The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Minari.

The movie is set to film in Queensland. No word on when they’re expecting to release the movie, but we’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, you can catch Davidson in the upcoming horror/slasher ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies‘ which is set to be released on August 5, 2022.

Tom Cruise Says He Would Not Allow ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ To Debut On Streaming

As most of you know, the ‘Top Gun‘ sequel ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ is finally entering theaters in just one short week after a two year delay, thanks in large part to COVID-19. It was originally supposed to be released in June of 2020.

It was then pushed back multiple times, and at one point, some wondered if the film would simply premiere on a streaming platform.

But Tom Cruise would not let that happen for a couple reasons. One being he and the director filmed this movie specifically for theaters. The high flying stunts in the movie were designed for the big screen.

The second reason? He loves movie theaters.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with theater owners. The people that serve the popcorn, the ones who make this [happen],” he said before the film’s premiere at Cannes.

The actor said he called movie theater owners with a message: ‘Please, I know what you’re going through. Just know we are making ‘Mission: Impossible’ and ‘Top Gun’ is coming out.’

He added that he makes movies for the big screen, and that’s how it’ll always be. He’s truly one of the last blockbuster action stars we have today, whether you like him or not.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2022.

Watch The First Trailer For Billy Eichner’s Gay Rom-Com ‘Bros’

Billy Eichner is truly one-of-a-kind. His brand of humor is unique, and his Billy On The Street series is one of the greatest things to ever exist.

And now he’s taking his talents to the big screen with the upcoming gay rom-com, Bros. Billy wrote the film and stars in it as a character named Bobby Leiber: a highly successful gay man who tries to run away from love, only experiencing unfulfilling hookups through dating apps.

But then, it all changes when he meets a special someone, played by Luke Macfarlane. The movie is a major milestone as it is the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio featuring an entirely LGBTQ principal cast.

The movie was directed by Nicholas Stoller, and it should be a pretty big hit. Universal Studios released the film’s first trailer, so you can check it out below.

Bros will hit theaters September 30, 2022. In addition to Eichner and Macfarlane, the flick stars Bowen Yang, Jim Rash and Guillermo Diaz.

Watch The New Trailer For ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones

Everyone has been waiting for the upcoming thriller ‘Where The Crawdads Sing‘ after loving the book, which was featured in Oprah’s bookclub. The novel was a huge success. It has sold over 12 million copies, making it one of the best selling books of all time.

And now Hollywood is hoping to get a taste of that success. This movie stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Harris Dickinson.

Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the ‘Marsh Girl’ haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

The studio is taking a chance by releasing this project in the middle of summer, going up against some pretty huge blockbuster films. It’s currently set to hit theaters on July 15, 2022, which will have it battling out Thor: Love and Thunder and Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror flick, Nope, the following week.

Watch Miles Teller, Chris Hemsworth And Jurnee Smollett In First Trailer For Netflix Thriller ‘Spiderhead’

Netflix just dropped the first trailer for the comedic psychological thriller ‘Spiderhead’ starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett.

The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is set to have a pretty hot summer with the upcoming release of his other film, Top Gun: Maverick.

Spiderhead stars Hemsworth as the visionary owner of a state-of-the-art penitentiary.

Where inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs, in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they’re not. At times, they’re a better version. Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. At a loss for words? There’s a drug for that, too.

Gotta be honest, I’m confused already, but we’re sure the movie will do a better job of explaining everything.

‘Deadpool’ writers Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese wrote the script based on George Saunders’ New Yorker short story, Escape from Spiderhead.

Spiderhead is set to premiere on Netflix on June 17. Check out the trailer below…

Watch Bryan Cranston And Annette Bening In The First Trailer For ‘Jerry & Marge Go Large’

It’s a good day. Paramount+ released the first trailer for the upcoming comedy film, Jerry & Marge Go Large, starring Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening.

The dramedy, which is directed by Academy Award winner David Frankel, is inspired by a pretty incredible true story of retiree Jerry Selbee and his wife Marge.

Jerry discovers a mathematical loophole in the Massachusetts lottery and, with the help of his wife, Marge (Bening), wins millions, using the money to revive their small Michigan town.

The flick also stars Larry Wilmore, Rainn Wilson and Michael McKean. ‘Jerry & Marge Go Large’ is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 15, 2022. It’ll then be released on June 17 in the U.S. on Paramount+.

Filming went down in July of 2021, so there was a pretty quick turnaround here. Sad it won’t get a theatrical release, but it should be a good movie to stream on a slow weekend.

Jennifer Jason Leigh Joins Ariana DeBose In Chris Pine’s Upcoming Directorial Debut ‘Poolman’

Chris Pine is putting away his acting cap and sliding in the director’s chair for the first time in the upcoming film, Poolman.

The movie, which is fully financed by AGC Studios, has added Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ariana DeBose to the cast. As some of you may have heard, Danny DeVito and Annette Bening have already joined the cast.

Plot details for the pic are so far sparse, but ‘Poolman’ is crafted as a nod to famous LA noirs like ‘Chinatown,’ ‘The Long Goodbye,’ ‘The Big Lebowski’ and ‘La La Land.’

Pine co-wrote the script alongside Ian Gotler. He’ll also serve as a producer, so his hands are all over this project, which is set to begin production in June in Los Angeles.

It’s a pretty impressive cast for a directorial debut. He has recruited some heavy hitters. You got some Oscar winners and some Oscar nominees.

Pine is 41-years-old, for those wondering. He started acting in the early 2000s, and is perhaps best known for his performance in the 2009 ‘Star Trek’ film.

Richard Linklater’s Next Project Will Be A Comedy-Action Film Titled ‘Hitman’

Richard Linklater is one of the best filmmakers in Hollywood, and he has been for decades now. When he starts work on a new project, we take notice.

It was reported this week that Linklater’s next film will be an action-comedy titled Hitman. It’s set to tell the true story of an undercover hitman, played by ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor Glen Powell.

The script is actually based on a Texas Monthly magazine article by journalist Skip Hollandsworth.

It details the fascinating story of hit man Gary Johnson, a staff investigator at the Harris Country district attorney’s office, who plays the role of hit man for police requiring the help of an undercover officer to catch individuals ordering a hit.

Powell is set to co-write the script with Linklater. He’ll also be in the starring role. According to the description, his character breaks protocol in order to help a desperate woman (Adria Arjona) trying to escape an abusive boyfriend.

Production on the film is scheduled to go down in October, so this movie could hit theaters sometime in 2023.

Powell previously worked with Linklater on ‘Apollo 10 1/2’ as well as ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’ (2016). He also starred in ‘Set It Up’ and ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.’

Can’t wait for this one! Linklater knows how to do crime-comedy well. He directed the 2011 film ‘Bernie‘ with Jack Black as the star. If you haven’t watched it, you should check it out. One of Black’s best performances.

‘Tremors’ Actor Fred Ward Has Died At The Age Of 79

Some sad news to report today. It’s being reported by multiple outlets that 79-year-old actor Fred Ward has passed away.

And if you don’t know his name, you probably know his face. He has starred in a number of movies and tv shows throughout the years. He starred in movies like Tremors, The Right Stuff, Escape from Alcatraz and Southern Comfort.

He also had a guest-starring role in the super successful ‘True Detective‘ series. He started his career back in the 1970s, landing small roles in television before his breakout role in the thriller film, Southern Comfort, in 1981.

His death was announced by his publicist. No cause of death was released, but his reps claim his last wish was for any memorial tributes to be made to the Boston University’s Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center. We’re not sure if he suffered from brain trauma himself, or if the cause/research was simply close to his heart.

Ward leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Marie-France Ward and his son, Django. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

He will be missed.
