30-year-old actor Austin Butler landed the role of his young life when he signed on to play Elvis Presley back in 2019. He spent the next two years studying for the role, even acting as if he was Elvis.
And apparently, the whole thing took a lot out of him. Once they wrapped filming in 2020, Butler claims he had to be hospitalized.
In an interview with GQ, he talked about the health emergency…
The next day [after filming wrapped] I woke up at four in the morning with excruciating pain, and I was rushed to hospital. My body just started shutting down the day after I finished ‘Elvis.’
According to Butler, he had a virus that simulated appendicitis. We’re not exactly sure what virus that would be, but he claims he was left bedridden for one week.
Sounds like the role drained him of all his energy, so hopefully it was worth it. The ‘Elvis‘ biopic, which co-stars Tom Hanks, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 24, 2022.
