In two years, every movie released inside theaters might either be a remake, sequel, comic-book flick or an adaptation of a book. It’s a sad world.
And Warner Bros. is adding to the sadness. The studio just announced this week that a live-action ‘Sesame Street’ movie will be hitting theaters Jan. 15, 2021.
Shawn Levy is producing with Michael Aguilar. Mike Rosolio and Chris Galletta have written drafts for the pic. Jesse Ehrman is shepherding the project for Warner Bros. Sesame Workshop, which holds the rights to the show, will also be involved in the development.
Warner Bros. will also be releasing a live-action/animated hybrid Tom and Jerry film on April 16, 2021. They’re trying their best to keep up with Disney, who seems to be releasing a new live-action remake every month.
It’s crazy times we live in. Live-action remakes are the hot thing right now. They might be even hotter than comic-book films at the moment. That’s a big might, though.
No more information was released about this Sesame Street pic, but we will keep you posted.
