Adam Sandler’s ‘Ridiculous Six’ Smashed A Pretty Important Record For Netflix

The Adam Sandler of 2016 might not be as popular as the Adam Sandler of 2006, but it’s clear he still has a strong following that will support his films even when they receive a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  The critics really haven’t supported him since the days of Funny People and Reign Over Me.

However, Mr. Sandler doesn’t need the approval of critics. As most of you know, the 49-year-old actor/comedian signed a deal with Netflix back in October of 2014 to produce and star in four original movies for the company. The first film released was titled The Ridiculous Six, and it’s the proud owner of that 0% rating up there.

But it’s also the proud owner of an impressive Netflix record. Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, revealed this little fact during the company’s keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show…

“The Ridiculous Six, by way of example, in the first 30 days on Netflix it’s been the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix. It’s also enjoyed a spot at number one in every territory we operate in, and in many of them it’s still number one.”

To be clear, this doesn’t mean The Ridiculous Six is Netflix’s most watched title ever; it’s simply the title with the most streams in the 30 days since being released. Does that make sense? Probably not.

The important thing to take away is that a lot of people have watched The Ridiculous Six and a lot of people still love Adam Sandler. He might be an easy target for critics and bloggers, but we’re willing to bet he doesn’t care.

I haven’t watched the movie, so I can’t tell you how terrible or great it is. I have heard that Taylor Lautner‘s performance was brilliant. It might be worth checking out this weekend. You can always hit that pause button if you don’t like it.
