Deadpool hasn’t even experienced its opening weekend, but that hasn’t stopped 20th Century Fox from agreeing (behind closed doors) to make a sequel. It hasn’t officially been announced; however, sources with The Hollywood Reporter claim it’s just a matter of time.
This news shouldn’t surprise anyone with the positive reviews from critics coming in. Just two days before its huge release on Feb. 12, Deadpool is scoring great numbers on Rotten Tomatoes. It currently has an 80% rating with a total of 49 fresh reviews .
Alonso Duralde wrote this in his review for TheWrap…
“It’s a film that’s amused with itself, but thanks to a screwball screenplay by Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick and a charmingly snarky lead turn by Ryan Reynolds, that amusement is both thoroughly earned and completely contagious.”
Sounds like it’s an incredibly entertaining movie. Even the “rotten reviews” point out that the film will not put you to sleep. And thanks to all those positive reviews from critics and the clever promotions we saw the past few weeks, experts believe Deadpool could make as much as $70 million during this holiday weekend.
That’s the only number the studio is focusing on, which is why they’re already talking about a sequel. We’ll keep you posted once they make an official announcement for the sequel. It will be coming soon.[mashshare]
