You knew it was coming, and now it’s official. Disney has started development on a ‘Captain Marvel‘ sequel.
According to the reports, the studio is *this* close to signing Megan McDonnell to write the sequel script. She is a staff writer on the upcoming Marvel-based miniseries, WandaVision.
It’ll be her biggest writing assignment yet, so we’re sure she’s silently freaking out.
The first ‘Captain Marvel’ film was released in 2019 and took in over $1 billion worldwide against a budget just north of $150 million.
Captain Marvel centered on Danvers becoming the vastly powerful Captain Marvel after the Earth is caught at the center of a galactic conflict in 1995. It was also Marvel’s first female-centric movie.
No word on when the movie might be released, but it will reportedly be set in present day.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, congrats to McDonnell for landing such a huge gig!
