22 Jump Street: Red Band Trailer and Movie Poster Release

When Hollywood takes an 80’s TV series, turns it into a slapstick buddy comedy and banks hard, what do they do next?  They do it again.  The first 21 Jump Street which was released in 2012, was made for $42 million and took in $138 million in the domestic box office.  That is easy money.  Even if the movie does half as good as the first one, that is still good money with very little risk.  Not to mention both Tatum and Jonah Hill’s stars have risen substantially since the first release.

Adequately titled “22 Jump Street” (why take any chances??) the new film will be released on June 23rd.  Kudos to Columbia for getting this done and getting it to market quickly.  Timing on this one will be everything.  Say what you want, but the trailer looks pretty damn funny.

[toggle title=”OFFICIAL MOVIE SYNOPSIS”]After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.[/toggle]
